Your school’s absence illness data is on your school’s information system. It can be obtained from your school’s absence administrator, who you may find very useful to have on board the project.
School absence is typically monitored using Capita (SIMS) and Serco software, click here for our Illness Absence Report Definition – which will give you all the information you’ll need for SIMS capita and Serco software installation.
These report definitions will make it much more convenient for your school to provide the absence illness data in the format you need for this project.
The Flu study investigates whether school absences due to illness can be used to predict flu in the wider community. Therefore we are not interested in other types of school absence, such as unauthorised or medical absences. Please make this clear to your absence administrator.
